Wiltshire's pub walks sit on the quieter edges of the county — the Avon Valley near Bath, and the limestone villages where Wiltshire blurs into the Cotswolds. Limpley Stoke, tucked into a steep wooded valley above the river, has the Hop Pole Inn waiting at the top of the climb. Further north, the ancient market town of Sherston — built along the old Fosse Way — keeps the Rattlebone Inn, named after a local legend said to have fought off a Danish army armed with nothing but a flail.

Small, characterful walks, with some properly tall stories attached.
