Over 1,100 pubs closed their doors for good last year.
When I see yet another pub boarded up it feels like a piece of our 'nation story' fades away with it — the memories of laughter, friendships, and community are just that, memories.
And then comes that thought: “I wish I’d actually gone in when I had the chance!” Sound familiar?
#SaveOurPubs
Pubs Worth The Walk is my way of promoting the interesting pubs I’ve visited, and the walks I’ve taken from the pub door and back again.
It's a social enterprise website to help promote pubs. Many are fighting quietly, stubbornly, to stay open.
Many pub walk books and websites introduce a walk, and merely name a local pub connected to it.
Instead, you'll see that I'm focusing on the pub, sharing my experience of it, and curating a walk around it.
Many of the pub walks described here take place in South West England and South & West Wales — regions where I’ve lived, worked, grown up, and returned to time and again. These are landscapes I know and love.
The pubs closest to my heart are the cosy village locals & community pubs, remote & countryside inns that keep traditions alive — where the beer is well kept, the welcome is warm, and the landlord knows the lanes and footpaths as well as the regulars.
Thanks for Visiting
Like many walkers, I’m partial to what comedian Mike Bubbins famously calls a “righteous pint” — a beer that tastes all the better when it’s earned.
Every time we choose to lace up our boots, follow a footpath and end the day with a drink at the bar, we’re doing more than enjoying a walk.
We’re helping to keep something precious alive, while enjoying that righteous pint.
So thanks for visiting Pubs Worth The Walk and helping me to celebrate the places that make our landscapes richer.
Let's help #SAVEOURPUBS, one walk at a time.

No payment is received from pubs, breweries or organisations for this website.
